Went Under The Sun For A Little Too Long? Here’s What You Need To Do To Take Care Of That Burnt Skin

June 15, 2022

It’s almost that time of the year we all strongly despise; when we wake up to the sunlight pouring in through our windows and when we step outside our homes, we hate walking under the scorching heat of the sun. Although the summer sun has its own sweet shine, it is still important to stay on top of your SPF game to maintain that flawless look!

We sometimes make the mistake of exposing our skin to sunlight without any sunscreen on and that results in a bad sunburn. This can eventually lead to physical distress and before long, you will be on the internet, frantically looking for the symptoms and remedies of sunburn. The simplest answer that you’ll get is people advising you not to go out on a sunny day. Sadly, by then, it’d already be too late.

Here is what you can do to fix your skin after being sunburnt.

1. Stand Under A Cold Shower

This is the easiest remedy out there for burnt skin! For instant relief, jump into a cold shower or get into a tub full of cold water. The soothing sensation that follows will bring a lot of ease and your skin will thank you. Water also helps in reducing inflammation, which will reduce the redness on your skin. However, make sure that you don’t rub your skin with a towel after taking a shower for this can cause even more redness and itchiness.

2. Do Not Exfoliate

When you have a sunburn, your skin is inflamed. This is why it’s very important for you to stop using products that can increase inflammation. If your face is sunburnt, stop using exfoliating masks, toners, anti-aging products, or acne medicines until the burns start healing. If your body has been exposed to sunlight, it might be wise to avoid using exfoliating acids and scrubs.

3. Pour Some Milk On It

It sounds crazy, yes, but researchers believe that applying milk to any area of your body that’s sunburnt will feel amazing and also help with the healing process. Milk contains vitamins such as vitamin A and D, which help in the repairing of lactic acids and damaged cells.
